For Rue du Deich in Ettelbruck, Van den Berk Nurseries supplied trees for the redevelopment of a park with a water storage function along the Alzette. The street name refers to the dyke that is already present here: the area forms part of the river’s water management system, which is included in Luxembourg’s official flood risk management plan.

For the main road through the park, Alnus ×spaethii was selected. The species is tolerant of both short-term and prolonged flooding and has few soil requirements, making it suitable for an environment where water levels can fluctuate. With an ultimate height of 15 to 20 metres, rapid growth and good tolerance of wind and paving, the species is well suited to the park’s avenue planting.
