Tilia kiusiana Tilia kiusiana

Tiliaceae

Tilia kiusiana Tilia kiusiana

Grows from a broad shrub shape into a small tree with a broad, pyramidal crown. In culture about 5 m tall but grows to around 10 m in the wild. The young twigs have soft hairs. The hair disappears after the first season. The leaves are strikingly slender and small for the linden. They are elongated oval with a long pointed tip and 5 - 8 cm long and 3 to 5 cm wide. The top of the leaf is dark green, the underside is lighter. Both sides have soft hairs and the margin is serrated. In autumn the leaf turns dark yellow. In July, cream-coloured flowers stand together in corymbs of 8 - 15. They are followed by brown, hairy round fruits. A graceful linden with abundant inflorescence suitable for parks and as a solitary tree. If grafted on a standard, the tree can also be used on green borders.
