Taxus baccata f. aurea Taxus baccata f. aurea

A medium-size tree with an ascending to broad ascending crown. This natural form is propagated by seeding so the trees have a variety of crown shapes, foliage colour and sex. The twigs are brown and the old bark is brown-red with deep grooves and flaking. The needles range from intense yellow to green-yellow. The tree can be either male or female. The female trees can bear a lot of fruit. These consist of elliptical brown-black seeds that are largely enclosed by a fleshy red aril. Broad park tree for any well-drained soil. Tolerates heavy pruning and is perfect for hedges and other shapes.
