Sorbus aria 'Lutescens' Sorbus aria 'Lutescens'

Rosaceae

Sorbus aria 'Lutescens' Sorbus aria 'Lutescens'

A tree with a dense spherical crown that later becomes broad ovoid. Reaches a height of between 8 and 12 m. This cultivar has remarkable leaves that are silver-white on both sides, usually somewhat yellower on the upper side. This means that the leaves are a light grey colour in the spring and early summer. Later in the season the upper side of the leaves turns green and thus becomes identical to those of the species. 'Lutescens' sheds its leaves early in the autumn. In contrast to other cultivars of S. aria, 'Lutescens' does not stand up to hard surfaces. Winter hardiness zone: 5a
