Quercus myrsinifolia

The Quercus myrsinifolia, also known as the bamboo-leaved oak (formerly incorrectly referred to as Q. glauca), originates from East and Southeast Asia. It is a broad oval to rounded tree with a dense crown that reaches a height of 9 to 12 meters.

The trunk is gray-brown to dark green-brown and smooth, with dark brown twigs distinguished by elongated, convex lenticels. Its glossy, elongated, leathery leaves are serrated and evergreen. Due to their narrow shape and arrangement, the leaves strongly resemble bamboo leaves and are often curved to one side. The yellow-green catkins are inconspicuous. Over time, they give way to narrowly oval, reddish-brown acorns that grow in pairs or clusters, with cupules enclosing half of each acorn. Hardiness zone: 7a.
