Pyrus communis 'Noordhollandse Suikerpeer', an old Dutch variety from North Holland that has been cultivated for over 150 years, is a fruit tree with a broad pyramidal shape and a semi-open crown, reaching a height of 4 to 8 meters. The trunk is brown.
Its green foliage is accompanied by white blossoms in April-May. The tree is not self-pollinating and pairs well with 'Kruidenierspeer' as a pollinator. The fruits are medium-sized, short, broad pears with a green to green-yellow skin and russeted spots. This variety is one of the earliest dessert pears to ripen, usually around mid-August. The sweet pears can also be used for cooking if picked semi-ripe. Hardiness zone: 6a.
