Medium-sized tree with an ascending crown. It can attain a height of up to 10 m. The pyramidal, later more rounded crown is semi-transparent. The trunk is glossy dark brown and turns to a mahogany colour at a later age. The bright green leaves are oval to ovoid and attain a size of 5 - 8 cm. 'Mahogany Lustre' flowers in April and early May, producing white flowers grouped in twos or threes. They are followed by dark red cherries with a diameter of approx. 1 cm. Suitable for planting in avenues, stretches of greenery and parks. The soil should not be too wet. Sensitive to strong winds and de-icing salt. Winter hardiness zone: 5a
