Prunus laurocerasus 'Reynvaanii' Prunus laurocerasus 'Reynvaanii'

'Reynvaanii' is a medium-sized evergreen shrub to about 2 m in height. The densely branched crown, especially at a young age, is columnar to broadly columnar and clearly upright growing. Later in life, the plant will sag more and grow wider. The annual twigs are yellow-green and the oblong leaves are 9-14 cm long and 3-4.5 cm wide. The leaves are slightly gutter-shaped folded and greatest width of the leaf is mid to slightly above the centre of the leaf blade. In young leaves, the leaf margin is entire, in older leaves it is slightly serrated. The leaves are slightly glossy dark green. The flowers are white and arranged in 7-10 cm long erect clusters. 'Reynvaanii' flowers profusely in May, but a second flowering period in late summer often does not follow. 'Reynvaanii' is an old cultivar found by A.J. Reynvaan in Velp in the early 20th century (before 1913). It is an excellent hardy cultivar that is fine as a hedge plant. Hardiness zone 6a
