Prunus 'Kiku-shidare-zakura' Prunus 'Kiku-shidare-zakura'

Prunus serrulata 'Kiku-shidare' (syn. P. s. 'Shidare-zakura') is an overgrown weeping form with twigs overhanging in large arches. Mature specimens can reach a height and width of 4 - 6 m. The leaves unfurl bronze and later turn glossy dark green. Blooms profusely in April and early May with double pure light pink flowers. These are about 3 cm in size and are arranged in clusters of 4 - 6 flowers. Usually planted as a solitary. Does not tolerate wet soil. Hardiness zone: 6a
