Pretty tree with a densely branched crown. It starts off a narrow vase shape but later becomes flattened spherical. Height 5 - 6 m. The oval to obovate leaves are dark green and grow to 5 - 9 cm in size. The autumn colour is yellow to orange-red. 'Schnee' produces many large, single, pure white flowers from late April to early May before the leaves emerge. The flowers are grouped in bundles (up to 10 per bundle). The tree produces few, if any, red fruits. It is used in parks, streets and small gardens. Prefers fertile humid soil. Winter hardiness zone: 4
