Prunus domestica 'Reine Claude d'Althan' Prunus domestica 'Reine Claude d'Althan'

'Reine Claude d'Althan' is a fairly vigorously growing plum tree with a slightly jagged, round, semi-open crown of 4-6 m in height. The stem branches are relatively long, making the crown slightly more open. The tree flowers around the end of April-early May with lightly scented, white blossoms. The flowers of 'Reine Claude d'Althan' are not self-pollinating, which means that a plum tree of another variety should always be planted in the vicinity. Preferably, 'Belle de Louvain', 'Opal' or 'Reine Claude d'Oullins' are used for this purpose. The plums of 'Reine Claude d'Althan' are medium-sized, round and red-purple in colour. The flesh is golden yellow, very juicy and tastefully sweet. The plums are ready for picking around the end of August-early September. They are very suitable for direct consumption or use in pies or purée.
'Reine Claude d'Althan' was found in 1867 by the gardener of the Hungarian Count Joseph d'Althan. Hardiness zone 6.
Our trees can only be planted when they don't have any leaves. Due to the this we will start delivering again from November 2025.
