This tree forms a moderately broad, elongated, oval crown when young. Height up to approx. 20 m. The trunk has a tendency to grow bent at first and later to straighten out. This makes the trunk a little tortuous. The diamond-shaped leaves are green. They emerge brownish-green and turn yellowish-green in the autumn. Bears flowers in the form of male catkins. 'Brandaris' shows little sensitivity to leaf spot disease and canker. Its sensitivity to rust is variable. The tree is suitable for row planting, avenues, landscapes or urban areas. Also very suitable for planting in coastal regions. Grows best in nutritious moist soils. It is very resistant to wind. Winter hardiness zone: 4
