Platanus orientalis var. cuneata Platanus orientalis var. cuneata

Platanaceae

Platanus orientalis var. cuneata Platanus orientalis var. cuneata

A rare variety of the oriental plane tree. Remains smaller than the species and has low branches so that in the course of time it develops into a multi-trunk tree. When the tree is older the branches hang down more, thereby forming a rounded crown. The bast is yellow, and the green (sometimes grey) bark flakes off in small pieces, giving the tree a speckled appearance. The leaves are less deeply incised than the species. Usually 3-lobed (sometimes 5-lobed) with sharply serrated points and a central lobe longer than it is broad. The spherical flowers are covered with protruding hairs. The fruit, that turns colour from green to brown and measures approx. 2.5 cm in diameter, appears after flowering. The fruit remains on the tree until deep into the winter. Saplings are sensitive to frost.
Our trees can only be planted when they don't have any leaves. Due to the this we will start delivering again from November 2025.
