Platanus orientalis 'Mirkovec' Platanus orientalis 'Mirkovec'

Platanaceae

Platanus orientalis 'Mirkovec' Platanus orientalis 'Mirkovec'

Was selected in around 1965 by Robert de Belder in the nursery of the same name in former Yugoslavia. Grows more slowly than the species and has somewhat tangled growth. Eventually the tree will remain significantly smaller than the species, with an irregular round crown. The palmately lobed leaves are around 20 cm with relatively narrow lobes. On emerging the leaves are bright green turning bronze-purple with darker veins during the season. In autumn the leaves turn deep burgundy. Although plane trees tolerate paving well, ‘Mirkovec’ is less suitable as a street tree because of its broad and irregular crown. Takes pruning very well, even in old wood. ‘Mirkovec’ shows good wind tolerance.
Our trees can only be planted when they don't have any leaves. Due to the this we will start delivering again from November 2025.
