Picea breweriana Picea breweriana

Picea breweriana is a large, upright growing conifer with a typical, very recognisable shape. It grows with a continuous central branch upwards, from which almost horizontally standing upright branches grow. The side branches growing from the upright branches hang down sharply. Because the side branches also grow from the terminal buds, these branches can become very long. The tree branches well and, thanks to its fairly long needles, Picea breweriana looks nicely "full". Despite its size and dense habit, it is a graceful conifer. Very suitable for use as a solitary in large gardens, parks and cemeteries. Picea breweriana only occurs in a relatively small area on the US west coast, where the tree grows in the Siskiyou Mountains at altitudes between about 1,000 m and 2,300 m. In nature, therefore, this species is relatively rare.
