A very winter-hardy ornamental apple tree with a round crown. The tree can attain a height of 5 - 6 m. In the spring the oval leaves are purplish but later they turn dark green. 'Makamik' can be used in parks and public gardens. The tree makes heavy demands on the soil as regards moisture supply and fertility. 'Makamik' is not very sensitive to scab.
