A tree with a vase-shaped to almost round crown and a height of 5 - 6 m. The ovoid leaves emerge bronze coloured to brown, turn light green later and yellow in the autumn. Flowering starts in early May and the large, 4 - 5 cm, flowers are single. In bud they are still brownish-red but they turn dark reddish-pink when fully open. The hard round fruits are carmine red with a red blush, Ø 1.5 cm in size. 'Adams' can be used in parks, public gardens and small gardens and makes heavy demands on the soil as regards moisture supply and fertility. The tree is moderately sensitive to scab and is sensitive to sea wind. Winter hardiness zone: 5a
