Mature trees have the same spread. 'Purpurea Latifolia' differs from others because of its deep red to nearly black-brown leaves. These are oval-ovate and circa 8 cm large. In autumn they turn yellow brown, sometimes orange. Inconspicuous flowering followed by nuts in capsules. It is used as a solitary. Prefers not too wet, well-drained soil, rich in humus content. Moderate wind resistance. Winter hardiness zone: 5b
