Sometimes multiple-stemmed, average-sized tree. The alternate leaves remain much smaller than of the species. The leaf is deeply lobed, slightly toothed and the lobes are lanceolate and less deep than of the 'Imperalis'. In autumn it remains long on the tree. Both the stalked buds and the young twigs are sticky to the touch (glutinosa = sticky). Female flowers are inconspicuous, male flowers in circa 7 cm long brown yellow catkins. The strobiles appear from September onwards and remain long on the tree. Besides a decorative leaf the tree also has a nice habit with slightly weeping twigs. This makes it less suitable for narrow spaces. The tree roots strongly with a branching main root. 'Laciniata' is tolerant to hard surfaces and withstands hard pruning well.
