Acer rubrum 'Bowhall' Acer rubrum 'Bowhall'

Aceraceae

Acer rubrum 'Bowhall' Acer rubrum 'Bowhall'

A somewhat older, American selection reaching circa 15 m. The crown is narrow pyramidal, making it a perfect tree for application in avenues. Young twigs are red-brown, the leaf stalk of the bright green 10 cm leaf is also red-brown. The underside of the palmate leaf is blue-green. Autumn colouring in orange-red hues. The red flowers emerge before the leaves unfurl. The tree develops a sturdy main root with fibrous root branches. In dry, limy soil the growth stunts and the autumn colouring will not occur. Intolerant to (sea) wind. 'Bowhall' shows a strong resemblance to A. freemanii 'Armstrong' but remains slightly shorter and has a more dense crown. The autumn colouring is more intense too. Winter hardiness zone: 4
Our trees can only be planted when they don't have any leaves. Due to the this we will start delivering again from November 2025.
