Acer platanoides CONQUEST ('Conzam') Acer platanoides CONQUEST ('Conzam')

Aceraceae

Acer platanoides CONQUEST ('Conzam') Acer platanoides CONQUEST ('Conzam')

Grows in nearly columnar pattern when young, later becoming somewhat broader, eventually developing an ovoid crown. Originated as mutant of ‘Crimson King’ and has the same shiny, dark red leaf. This is especially noticeable in spring. Later in summer, the leaf turns purplish green to dark green: the young shoots still present provide an attractive colour combination. In autumn, the leaf turns orange-red. The cultivar somewhat resembles ‘Crimson Sentry’, but has a stronger root system. Highly suitable for narrower avenues and streets, and on squares. Grows on any soil, but does not tolerate stagnating groundwater and peaty soils.
