Station Almere Poort is located along the Weesp–Lelystad railway (Flevolijn) and serves the new district on the south-west side of Almere. Construction began in January 2012 and he station was opened in December of the same year. A diversity of greenery was planted in the area around the station. Sixty-eight Styphnolobium japonicum ‘Regent’ (Sophora japonica ‘Regent’) were planted in the paving of the square. In the plant beds and green verges, Tilia x europaea ‘Pallida’ in size 30-35 and Amelanchier lamarckii at 200-250 cm tall, together with Robinia pseudoacacia ‘Bessoniana’ and feathered Carpinus betulus ‘Frans Fontaine’ were planted. Van den Berk supplied all the trees and was also responsible for the planting and aftercare.
