In the heart of Coventry, the brand new James Starley Gardens has been unveiled, described as a "striking open-air urban space". This fresh green addition, opened just in time for the start of Coventry's year as the UK City of Culture, will serve as a new gathering place for the local community.

The gardens were developed by Coventry University and are situated in the centre of their campus, just a stone's throw from Coventry Cathedral. The innovative outdoor space, encompassing new pedestrian areas and landscaped gardens, was created on the site of the university's former James Starley building, which was demolished last year.

In the creation of this remarkable garden, we have supplied a total of 35 trees in the 20-25 size range, along with several multi-stem specimens. Our selection included various species such as Prunus maackii "Amber Beauty", known for its striking amber-coloured bark, Prunus Cerasifera 'Nigra' with its dark foliage, and Corylus 'Maxima Purpurea', noted for its purple leaves.

Each tree was meticulously selected and placed to contribute to the diversity and aesthetic appeal of this new urban space. The result is a dynamic and diverse garden that not only benefits the local community, but also contributes to sustainable urban development.
