For the municipality of Kristianstad, a batch of 23 Tilia cordata ‘Böhlje’ with stem girth 50-60 cm were uprooted a year before planting. The trees were transferred to airpots at our nursery and placed on the drip feed on the specially designed airpot field. This was done because planting could only take place in May 2013. Normally, this would mean not being able to uproot the trees any more, but using this method allowed us to do so. The trees had already been through the transplanting stress at the nursery and had already rooted again in the airpot. Although the airpot system is more expensive, it guarantees high quality root balls.
