Ulmaceae

Ulmus 'New Horizon' Ulmus 'New Horizon'

Fast-growing tree with dense pyramidal crown, to approx. 25 m tall by 10 m spread. Bark is brown-grey, flaking in rectangular plates when mature. Leaves are glossy dark green and of average size. Has little autumn colour. Blossoms in clusters of light green flowers, followed by seeds enclosed in wings. It originated at the University of Wisconsin from a cross between Ulmus japonica and Ulmus pumila: high resistance to Dutch elm disease. Also good tolerance to wind. When young it needs regular support pruning, although it can then grow into a good, regularly shaped tree.
Our trees can only be planted when they don't have any leaves. Due to the this we will start delivering again from November 2025.
