Tilia cordata CORINTHIAN ('Corzam') Tilia cordata CORINTHIAN ('Corzam')

Tiliaceae

Tilia cordata CORINTHIAN ('Corzam') Tilia cordata CORINTHIAN ('Corzam')

An American selection with a height of 12 - 15 m and a width up to 5 m. The main branches are arranged uniformly on the straight, vertical trunk. The trunk is dark brown and grooved and the young twigs are green to reddish brown. The fairly thick, remarkably shiny leaves are heart-shaped at the base, taper to a sharp point at the top and are smaller than those of the species. The leaves are bluish green on the underside. Pungent flowers appear in early summer, growing in short umbels. The light green bract is somewhat shorter than the umbel. Fairly small fruit follow in late summer. T. cordata and its cultivars are fairly unsusceptible to aphids and tolerate dry conditions. Its narrow manner of growth makes 'Corzam' excellently suitable for streets and avenues.
