Tiliaceae

Tilia cordata 'Böhlje' Tilia cordata 'Böhlje'

A cultivar of T. cordata discovered as a seedling, which starts out with a narrow, conical, compact crown that becomes broader later. Height 12 - 18 m, width up to 12 m. The trunk is dark brown and grooved, young twigs are green to reddish brown. The dark green leaves generally have a slanted, heart-shaped base and taper to an abrupt point at the top. They are bluish green underneath and turn a remarkable yellowish colour in the autumn. Pungent flowers appear in early summer, growing 5 – 10 together in short umbels. The light green bract is somewhat shorter than the umbel. Small fruit follow in late summer. These are grey and felt-like at first and later bare. T. cordata and cultivars are not very prone to aphids. Its narrow manner of growth makes 'Böhlje' excellently suitable for streets and avenues.
Our trees can only be planted when they don't have any leaves. Due to the this we will start delivering again from November 2025.
