Populus x canadensis 'Ellert' A fast grower with a fairly straight trunk and relatively thin branches. The tree has a broad oval crown with irregular branching. Adult specimens can reach a height of 20 - 25 m. The leaves start out light green but later turn a darker shade. Bears flowers in the form of male catkins. 'Ellert' shows good resistance to rust and canker and is resistant to leaf spot disease. It is used in forestry and in coastal areas because of its good resistance to wind. Winter hardiness zone: 4
