Fraxinus pennsylvanica 'Summit' Fraxinus pennsylvanica 'Summit'

This American selection from 1957 has an ovate crown, becoming round later. At a height of circa 15 m the spread is circa 3 m. The crown is densely closed. Older trunks are slightly furrowed and brown-grey. The young twigs, without lenticels, turn from olive-green to light brown. The 20 - 30 cm large leaf consists of 5 - 9 smaller, lanceolate, leaflets that are 10 - 15 cm and it turns yellow in autumn after which it drops rather soon. After the inconspicuous flowering fruits are seldom produced. 'Summit' is suitable as a street, avenue and park tree and tolerates dry ground, but this soil must be fertile. The tree anchors well due to its deep-going pen-root which branches out strongly.
Our trees can only be planted when they don't have any leaves. Due to the this we will start delivering again from November 2025.
