Fagus orientalis 'Iskander' Fagus orientalis 'Iskander'

Fagaceae

Fagus orientalis 'Iskander' Fagus orientalis 'Iskander'

Slender, columnar tree with a vertical branch pattern and equally erect twigs. The branch structure is sturdier than with F. sylvatica and cultivars. Very predictable in shape and can attain a height of over 20 m, with a width of only a few metres. The oval to obovate leaf is 6 - 12 cm in size and glossy dark green. It remains glossy and healthy even in the second half of summer. Blossom is inconspicuous: the tree will only start to bear more fruit when mature. Prefers well-drained, humic soil that is not too wet. Thrives better in warm, dryer conditions than F. sylvatica cultivars.
