Diospyros lotus Diospyros lotus

Diospyros lotus is a medium-sized tree with a broad, round crown reaching up to 15 m. The young twigs are green, the old bark is grey and grooved. The fairly large, oblong leaves are a glossy dark green and give the tree a healthy appearance. It is also a healthy tree, hardly suffering from diseases and pests. In summer, the tree flowers inconspicuously with small unisexual flowers. The male flowers stand alone to in bundles of three in the leaf axils and are yellow-white to slightly red-tinged. The female flowers are slightly larger and yellow-brown. These are followed by round fruits about 2 cm in size. The fruits are yellow to pale purple and not edible. This is in contrast to the fruits of Diospyros kaki.
Likes well-drained, nutritious, preferably loamy soil. Is well wind resistant but does not tolerate cold, dry winds.
Our trees can only be planted when they don't have any leaves. Due to the this we will start delivering again from November 2025.
