This cultivar grows more regularly and higher than the species. Height approx. 8 m, with a broad flattened crown. The branches bear many thorns. These are approx. 4 cm long. The leaves are broad oval and glossy dark green with a sharply serrated edge. The autumn colour is remarkable: red, orange and yellow tints. The white flowers appear in felt-like umbels in May and June. They are followed by bright red fruits, with a diameter of approx. 1 cm, that remain on the tree for a long time.
