Betulaceae

Betula utilis 'Doorenbos' Betula utilis 'Doorenbos'

Striking tree with a regularly shaped crown. Mature specimen can attain a height of circa 20 m. Width of the crown is circa 6 - 8 m then. The usually low branching main trunk has diagonally spreading branchlets. A trunk of several years is extremely white and peels slightly. Under the plates the bark is darker. In winter this tree is an absolute eye-catcher. Young twigs are hairy and have a warm, red brown colour. They have many lenticels. The leaf is shiny and coarsely toothed. The autumn colouring is golden yellow. This bark has a rich inflorescence of 12 cm long catkins. The tree is shallow rooting with, especially in the top soil, many fibrous rootlets.
Our trees can only be planted when they don't have any leaves. Due to the this we will start delivering again from November 2025.
