Betulaceae

Betula pendula FASTIGIATA JOES ('Jolep1') Betula pendula FASTIGIATA JOES ('Jolep1')

FASTIGIATA JOES is a columnar birch with a tighter crown shape than 'Fastigiata'. The upright twigs are straighter, thicker and therefore sturdier than in 'Fastigiata', giving the tree a more robust appearance. The crown is quite dense (for a birch) and the twig tops do not hang down as much as in 'Fastigiata'. Already within a few years, the striking grey-white trunk is visible. This forms a good combination with the dark green foliage of FASTIGIATA JOES.
Handsome cultivar that is widely applicable in parks, gardens, streets and avenues. Because of its shape, it is also very suitable for narrow profiles, in shopping centres and residential areas. FASTIGIATA JOES was found by John de Lepper, Hulsel, the Netherlands and introduced in 2014. Hardiness zone 2
