Aceraceae

Acer rubrum 'Sun Valley' Acer rubrum 'Sun Valley'

Strongly growing selection of the U.S. National Arboretum, with an oval crown. The tree was selected in a hybridisation programme, with the aim of achieving improved resistance to leafhoppers. It was derived by crossing A. rubrum ‘Red Sunset’ with ‘Autumn Flame’. The dark green leaf turns deep red in autumn. Highly suitable as an avenue, street and park tree. Also fine for use along driveways and such like. Its growth will stagnate on calcareous soil. In such soil, as with very dry soil, the autumn change of colour will be less noticeable. Intolerant to (sea) wind.
Our trees can only be planted when they don't have any leaves. Due to the this we will start delivering again from November 2025.
