In the heart of Bratislava, a project has emerged that doesn’t just soften the architecture with greenery—it uses it as an active tool for urban life. Metropolis is built on a simple yet carefully considered idea: that quality public space should be open and genuinely used. Instead of a closed courtyard, a garden-like inner block has been created—accessible, natural, and livable.
Trees with a stem girth of 18–20 cm were planted in a regular rhythm, interspersed with beds of grasses and flowering meadows. The space includes a children's playground with a sculpted terrain, play elements, benches, and integrated artworks. Greenery here is not a backdrop—it is part of everyday interaction. Metropolis proves that even in the middle of the city, it is possible to create a place that is vibrant, welcoming, and human—offering both shade and a pleasant microclimate.
