In 2010, the year in which the major work for the 2012 Floriade in Venlo was started, the Maasboulevard was tackled. The dikes along the Maas had to be raised and the adjacent harbour and retail area were renovated. Bureau Lubbers signed to take care of the redevelopment plan. They opted for a natural planting arrangement so area would merge neatly with the landscape on the other side of the river. Van den Berk supplied Salix alba ‘Belders’ and Populus canadensis ‘Limbricht’ in large sizes.
