In 2012 the 6th World Horticultural Exhibition Floriade took place in Venlo. Since 2007, Van den Berk has been involved in the Floriade and supplied hundreds of trees for the park. Dozens of oak for the forest of friends, robina for the theme field Relax & Heal and many unusual species for the Secret Garden and the Avenue of Trees. Also many multi-stemmed trees were delivered, such as Cladrastis, Prunus and Koelreuteria, for the main structure of the park.
Besides these trees, Van den Berk has, for the third time, submitted its own design, realized in the ‘Environment’ area of the exhibition. With the submission, consisting of an architectural and natural garden, we wanted to show that there is a suitable tree for every situation. We also want to make the public more aware of the importance of trees for the quality of urban and village life. The pavilion showed in various ways what trees mean for the environment and local community.
Van den Berk trees were also visible in the bees pavilion, for which we specifically had bee-friendly trees available, and also the Chinese Pavilion was covered in green by Van den Berk.
