Van den Berk UK Limited is a subsidiary company of Van den Berk Nurseries in The Netherlands. It has been established in the summer of 2019 to anticipate the Brexit. Investigation revealed that the founding of a British subsidiary company was the best way to continue our business in the UK in the usual, efficient and pleasant way.
Customers can order trees through Van den Berk UK Limited and can still choose from the regular range of Van den Berk Nurseries. That has several advantages as Van den Berk UK Limited will:
- Reduce implications of customs
- Assist with the import of your trees
- Adopt the incoming plant passport declarations through the UK portals of Peach.
In 2020 Van den Berk also opened a nursery location in the UK. The decision for an own location in the UK was made because of a strong demand from our clients and specifiers for our trees, and the will to provide service throughout the year. Located in Mirfield, just off the M62 and M1 junctions, the site is centrally placed to service the entire UK within a day by road. The nursery is a shop window for high quality, specialist trees, produced in the 450ha nursery in The Netherlands and has facilities for growing trees in air-pots, in cocos wrapped root balls and containers. The nursery can be visited by appointment.
The location in Mirfield will also provide capacity to quarantine trees to serve the best biosecurity practices. Already some years ago we made biosecurity a top priority and our policies and accreditations go beyond the industry requirements. The horticultural practices are freely available to download. Also Tom Owen, our experienced horticulturalist within the UK, can supply information on biosecurity protocol, UK legislation and specific requirements across any landscape or garden design based scheme.
