Salix alba 'Drakenburg' is a female cultivar with a broad, pyramidal crown. It forms a fairly straight trunk with branches that are at a less than 75° angle on average. The trunk is deeply grooved and corky and the ends of the twigs hang down somewhat. The lanceolate leaves are dark green with silvery hair and take on remarkable autumn colour early. It grows in moist places and can stand temporary submersion, but also thrives in dryer places. 'Drakenburg' is sensitive to watermark disease. Winter hardiness zone: 4
