`I suggest it for everyone'
"I am really under the impression of this book. I work already more than 50 years as a landscape architect and all those years I have not yet rather seen something like that. The book is complete and easy in use. Every tree has been reflected with a superb photograph and has been extended described. It is not only skillful but also educational. I use it regularly and save alot of time for new ideas. I suggest it for everyone."

“Absolutely the standard”
“It is still the standard in this area. Not only for myself but also many colleagues from the nurseries- and greenness world uses it regularly. Also for its completeness.
It is extremely skillful so much information to find about trees in one book, and absolutely no other book presents so much photograph. "van den Berk about trees is absolutely the standard”

'Tree bible'
“The book is here on the desk, always within reach. We have bought a whole series of these bibles and distributed them to land managers and designers. I use it mainly as a reference work – just quickly look up what the architects have invented now. It contains the standard information on each tree, and also how it behaves under particular conditions. We have quite a few restrictions here in The Hague, such as salty onshore winds. The selection of trees was based on this book.”

"An extraordinary workbook"
“This workbook, whose sheer size is already impressive, on reading proves to contain an impressive collection of specimens and varieties of trees. The beautiful photographs, descriptions and pictograms are an excellent tool to help make a selection. All important qualities, such as height, leaf shape and colour, but also soil and location requirements can be found in this substantial reference book. For me, as an alderman for Living Environment & Green Areas, this book is of immense value, as we have various types of soil in our council, ranging from wet loamy soil to dry sand. We also have to take subsidence of old mines and the Maas into account, which have a strong impact on the water table. These factors make it very difficult to select trees, but this workbook helps us to make the right comparative assessment. All in all, it is a beautiful book which can only have been written by an author who is passionate about growing trees.”

"beyond the usual selection"
“This book on trees is used a lot by the students of HAS College Den Bosch, both by students of tree cultivation and students of garden and landscape management and landscape design. It is a well-organized book with beautiful pictures and a lot of information. Because of the clear arrangement, it is very accessible for students. It offers support when learning to recognise the selection. The book clearly gives all the characteristics of the trees and habitat requirements. This makes it a good tool in the selection of trees for planting schemes. Because of the many different species of trees which are described, students are encouraged to look beyond the usual selection. In other words: It is an ideal book to ensure the right tree is planted in the right place.”
