Sizes and weights
Van den Berk Nurseries has a wide and deep assortment. Not only are there many different trees and shrubs, but they are also available in a wide range of sizes.
Tree sizes
When referring to the size of trees, it’s generally not about the height, but about the stem girth. This stem girth is measured at one metre from ground level. The sizes of trees on the Van den Berk plots vary from 16-18 cm to 200+.
The relevant heights and widths depend on the species of tree. Sales team employees can give you additional information.
Shrub sizes
The sizes of shrubs, feathered and multi-trunk trees and conifers are given in terms of height. When it involves shrubs or trees that have been shaped by pruning, then width or another relevant size is often added. In these categories, Van den Berk has plants with heights varying from 60/80 cm to 900/1000 cm.
Rhododendrons sizes
Rhododendrons are measured in the same way as other shrubs. A width size is also often indicated for rhododendrons. There can be quite a difference in that regard. For more about this, see our website page ‘Rhododendron nursery/quality’. The rhododendron sizes go from 40 cm. to 400 cm height and width.
Weight of root balls
The weight of the tree is relevant for its transport and planting. Keep in mind that due to their weight, most Van den Berk trees can’t be planted manually. The Van den Berk root ball table gives an indication of the total, average weight. Besides by the size of the root ball, the exact weight is determined by the species of tree and the moisture content of the soil. If necessary, the logistics department can give you additional information after the tree has been dug up. Click here to see the root ball table
