Private garden, countryside
The owner of this estate wished to create an atmosphere in the garden at his house using rooms, wonderful views and surprising elements. The informal, park-like ambience is maintained at a greater distance from the house. Mature trees were planted in the park because small trees would be obscured by the existing large trees.
The architect Joanne Tribe of Joanne Tribe Associates intuitively knew what the owner had in mind. Topiary trees have been used to create a wonderful atmosphere in the garden section. Screen Liquidambar styraciflua ‘Worplesdon’, block Carpinus betulus, screen - low Carpinus betulus, block Tilia plathyphyllos ‘Rubra’, cone Taxus baccata.
Taxus baccata of 200/250/300 were delivered in order to create hedges. The park trees Quercus palustris, Quercus robur, Quercus pubescens and Tilia europaea ‘Pallida’ were planted.

Private garden, London
This garden was designed by Charlotte Sanderson. The client wanted a formal garden with a great deal of vegetation and atmospheric and striking green elements.
The central portion of the garden was converted into a lawn in order to maintain the panorama and the borders were planted with two double rows of multi-trunk Amelanchier lamarkii, pruned into a parasol shape. The side walls have been filled with low screens of 200 cm–high Carpinus betulus.
The whimsical trunks of the Amelanchier provide a playful element that really brings the garden to life. Details such as buxus blocks and spheres at various locations create a pleasant atmosphere where it is easy to relax. The front garden has a very formal layout, with 2 eye-catching magnolias surrounded by luxuriant buxus hedges and a beautiful cloud-shaped buxus growing against the house.
Trained tilia europaea ‘Pallida’ was used along both side borders of the front garden to create more intimacy. |
