Lime-tolerant rhododendrons
Many species within our extensive selection of large-flowered rhododendrons and Yakushimanum hybrids are available on a lime-tolerant rootstock.
As opposed to acid-loving classic rhododendrons, which require a pH between 4.2 and 5.5, these plants can be applied for multiple purposes. They thrive in soil types with a pH between 4.5 and 6.5. An added advantage of plants which have been bred on lime-tolerant rootstock is that they are stronger. The sales team can give you more information about types and sizes.
The advantages:
• also suitable for more calcareous soil types (pH 4.5 to 6.5)
• stronger root development
• strong, healthy growth
• bigger flower bud swelling
• less sensitive to frost
• less sensitive to salt
